I was looking into which fabric would be best for CLEAN bathing and decided on going with hemp as it is known for its natural anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. What is better than that in the bathroom?
Fabric made of hemp breathes well and is superb at wicking moisture away. Hemp is four times as absorbant as cotton.
I love that hemp is also one fo the top renewable resources which grows great without any chemical pesticides or fertilizers. It is used in crop rotations as it replaces nutrients in the soil. For vegetable fibers, it is the strongest and has been used for many purposes for many generations.
Hemp oil being high in Omega 3 & 6 essential fatty acids; vitamins B1; B2; B3; B6; B9; E and more, when used in creating soaps, is highly moisturizing, adds to the protective layer of the skin & fights inflammation.
It is always on my mind to find products which are specifically sweatshop-free, unbleached, undyed, non-GMO, with no pesticides, formaldehyde, dioxins, BPA, heavy metals, or toxic chemicals.
One of the most comprehensive sites is Rawganique with incredibly high quality organic hemp products for the bathroom such as naturally dyed shower curtains in an array of beautiful colors, different sized bathmats, terry towel sets , soap , exfoliating scrubbers & back scrubbers, bathrobes for men & women and even slippers. Click on the applicable word for more information on each, where they are from and their pricing.
These towels are made without any stabilizers and come with special care instructions such as placing them in a mesh bag while washing and keeping them away from high heat which can break down the fibers. I went on Amazon and got this great drying rack that I use to hang them up and let them dry naturally. It works great and is worth it to me to get back to basics on using natural fabrics. I really researched these too and this had a lot of helpful attributes.
At the end of every year I like to give away a little thank you gift to those who have been very special to me and this past year I gave out all the different scented hemp soaps and let each pick the one they wanted. A few were concerned about THC being in them and I explained that these products are all made from industrial hemp which is grown for fiber purposes and not for the THC. Just in case you wondered. I have been using these soaps and I just love them. There is a calming scent that is not overwhelming and my skin really stays moisturized all day. I have cut down on using moisturizer due to this.
I also found this organic hemp bathmat at Hemp Organic Life on Etsy. Aline, the owner, created and hand-knitted this incredibly unique pattern which has an especially nice massaging effect on the feet. You can also find her handmade shower curtains, organic hemp soaps etc here.
I hope you not only found this hempful but also helpful. ♥ Nicole
